The Billy Davis Award, powered by McCann Worldgroup, was created in honor of Roquel “Billy” Davis, a legendary songwriter, producer, music director, and Advertising Hall of Fame alum. In the late 1960s, Davis joined McCann after spending more than a decade in the recording industry, writing and producing music for artists like Jackie Wilson and Fontella Bass. Davis was a true example of a creative, innovative artist and thinker, who boldly shared his unique perspective and pushed the work – and the industry – forward in a meaningful way. In his honor, McCann Worldgroup will recognize one MAIP alum each year with a $2,500 award and the opportunity to be paired with a MW mentor for 1 year.
