I’m pretty sure I love advertising because of how insanely difficult it is.
Sure, I love creating stories, writing manifestos, mining a brand’s deepest core values and feeling like my skills are being put to their best use. Those are my favorite aspects of advertising.
But advertising is also about overwhelming strategic challenges, emotional investments and daily letdowns. Advertising, though often times fun, is always tremendously challenging. That’s why I love it.
It keeps me guessing, thinking, challenging myself and growing. And its power, when properly wielded, is capable of changing the world. It’s tough, but what’s more exciting than that?
